Cozy In-home Engagement Session by Oregon Elopement Photographer Black Salt Photography
“Cozy In-home Engagement Session” by Oregon Elopement Photographer Black Salt Photography
This super cozy in-home engagement session melted my heart. The vintage Edison lights, cityscape view, and romantic candles came together in the perfect way. This session is proof you don’t need an epic landscape or cool location to get super cute photos of the two of you.
Jessica and Nick are two of the SWEETEST people I have ever met. Jess exudes happiness and Nick is a big ‘ole goofball. We bonded over a love of music, plants, and saving the earth. This cute picnic-esque session is actually part two of our photo session together. You can see the moody and romantic pool part here.
Fun fact: the dress Jess is wearing in this engagement session is actually a nightgown. ?
Sometimes, you just never know where the perfect engagement outfit is going to come from. Give yourself some grace and allow the unexpected to come up too.
A couple tips on what to wear to your engagement session:
1. Wear comfortable, muted earth tones.
My photography style looks best with natural-colored clothing instead of a bright print. It allows your faces (and love) to pop. It’s also important to make sure that whatever you’re wearing, you’re comfortable. You can’t hide the feeling of being uncomfortable in your photos. Go easy on yourself and pick something you wear often and feel confident in.
2. Don’t do matchy-matchy.
Matchy-matchy clothes are so early 2000’s. You can do this look IF you’re doing it intentionally. Otherwise, try to stick to the same palette instead. If you’re wearing light green then have your partner wear a dark green or a brown. These colors compliment each other rather than begging for dominance. If you’re stuck on what colors look well together, just check out a color wheel! I promise those are helpful to more things than just 3d grade art class.
