Latourell Falls Elopement in the Columbia River Gorge

"Latourell Falls Elopement in the Columbia River Gorge" by Oregon Elopement Photographer Black Salt Photography

A Latourell Falls Elopement | Columbia River Gorge

Latourell Falls is one of the most popular waterfall elopement locations in the Columbia River Gorge. Located just outside Portland, Oregon, Latourell Falls is only a short drive from the city for some of the best waterfall hikes and waterfalls in Oregon. Eloping under a waterfall is such a unique experience there really isn't anything like it. You don't have to go very far from the city to experience your best adventure and an amazing Oregon Elopement. The best part about this particular waterfall is how EASY it is to get to!

Latourell Falls Elopement

The hike to Latourell Falls is about 5 minutes walking downhill on a fairly smooth path. The waterfall seemingly comes out of nowhere when you get close. I am OBSESSED with waterfalls. I think they are so cool and such a unique part of Earth so I was beyond excited to photograph this elopement. What surprised me the most about Latourell Falls is just how long and fast the waterfall is. You don't realize the breeze that comes from the water until you stand really close. Alison & Chase definitely got a little wet but I think it was worth it.

The waterfall is about 70 feet tall and the water crashes down over moss-covered rocks. You can get as close as you want to the falls as long as you don't mind getting a little wet. My favorite part of this Latourell Falls elopement is having the bride and groom stand next to the waterfall and just embrace each other. Sitting in the moment on your wedding day is really special and I always encourage my couples to take those few moments for themselves.

Another great thing about this Latourell Falls elopement (as if you need another) is that because it is so accessible, you can bring your friends and family along with you if you want. Eloping just means choosing a day and a ceremony that is meaningful for you. If having your closest friends and family with you at your wedding is what makes you happy then this is another place in Oregon where that is totally possible. A lot of the more adventurous spots make it harder for more people to join but Latourell Falls has plenty of space. Just be sure to follow all of the guidelines and Leave No Trace.

After you've had enough of Latourell Falls (if that's even possible) the trail continues on through the forest. You can explore the deep Oregon woods in the Columbia River Gorge or hop to the next amazing place down the road for your adventure elopement.

Eloping in the Columbia River Gorge

Who knew how amazing the Columbia River Gorge was? I know that sounds dumb but holy shit I am consistently overwhelmed with how MUCH there is to explore only an hour from my house in Portland. The gorge is FULL of long and short hikes and I've witnessed some of the most amazing sunsets while out on adventure elopements here.

There are so many different waterfalls right next to each other in the Columbia River Gorge. It's really cool to see how they all start small and then build up in size. I plan to do a day trip to Columbia River Gorge and just hit up all the waterfalls I can because they are THAT close together.

Elope in Oregon

I want all of my couples to experience the magic of having your ceremony in a place that is really special. Saying your vows next to a massive waterfall could be that place for you! Having an adventure elopement doesn't mean you have to go on exhausting hikes if you don't want to. That's why Oregon is so magical.

As an Oregon elopement photographer, one of the biggest ways I help my wedding couples plan their big day is by helping location scout. I listen to what you're dreaming of and help make it a reality for you. With firsthand knowledge of permits, weather, tides, etc. I can easily help guide you along your journey so you NEVER feel like you're floundering through planning. Getting married doesn't have to be hard.
