A Moody Elopement in Oregon

Katie and Chris made the journey from Montana to Oregon, and it was a fantastic match working together because they resonated with my vibe! It was a perfect decision for all of us because their elopement in Oregon had a moody atmosphere thanks to the rain and overcast weather. Now, you might be raising an eyebrow at the mention of rain, but trust me, it adds such unique and cinematic elements to photos. I’m all about capturing authentic moments, and I never want you to feel pressured to change your plans just because of a little rain.

CHRIS AND KATIE’S UNCONVENTIONAL JOURNEY TO ROMANCE: CHRIS’S POV

Chris knew what Katie looked like from pictures shown by their mutual friend Matt, who believed she was the perfect match for Chris, though she wasn’t ready at the time. Months later, when they finally met, Chris stepped back to let his friend try his luck. Despite initial chaos, Katie stood out as the most beautiful girl Chris had ever met. But it took some time to discover her personality.

Persisting through unanswered texts, Chris won her over with questions about salt and pepper shakers and relentless sunrise pictures. On their first official date, a wine-buzzed Katie jumped the parking curb, and Chris thought, “This is gonna be fun.”

A MOODY ELOPEMENT IN OREGON | DEPOE BAY

Despite the rainy and chilly weather, those are the kinds of days I absolutely adore. They prepared separately in their own spaces and later came together outside the inn for a meaningful first look and to exchange private vows. The ceremony unfolded on a grassy cliffside at the inn, offering a breathtaking ocean view.

As for the reception, they opted for a relaxed buffet-style meal. The evening continued with their first dance, a sweet cake-cutting ceremony, and then they let the rest of the night unfold organically. They spent the evening winding down in the warmth of the moment.

The rain played hide-and-seek throughout the day. However, it provided a chance to use these adorable clear umbrellas, adding a unique touch. Katie and Chris embraced the weather without hesitation. I can’t get enough of how stunning their couple’ portraits turned out, which you’ll see below.

“We haven’t even had our elopement yet, but I couldn’t wait any longer to leave a good review! Destiny has been absolutely amazing to work with and has far exceeded any expectations we had for a photographer. Photography was our top priority and we know she will do such a good job on our special day! Apart from knowing we can trust her to take good photos, she has consistently gone out of her way to help us plan, feel at ease, and feel super special. From her custom location list, to help choosing from the list, to surprise vow books in the mail, she’s made this whole process seamless and fun. You can tell she really loves what she does, and we can’t wait to see her in action on our big day!”
