Best of 2021
2021 was a year of change
2021 was a year full of big changes both personally and professionally for the Alrik household. At times it was stressful, relieving, scary, and thrilling (occasionally all at once). It’s been amazing to take our first full step into adult life now that we’re both out of school and have Big Human jobs. I learned over and over again this year that I really do thrive in change and challenges. I’m constantly pushing farther and going harder and my poor husband gets drug along with me.
I’m usually pretty terrible at acknowledging my growth. It seems that as soon as I’ve achieved a goal, I cross it off and forget about it like it never happened. This habit of mine led to a lot of worried days where I felt less-than and scared and couldn’t see a way out. Meeting new people, removing old ones, and getting myself off my ass and out the door really helped because our worlds are SO much larger than they seem sometimes. I have so many things to be thankful for and I hope that by doing this exercise you’ll see how many things you can be proud of too. That’s what it really comes down to for me. I’ve built this business on helping others and making them feel confident in their own skin. So I hope in these next few days, before the urge to change your whole self kicks in with the new year that you can appreciate your growth from these past 12 months.
Because you’re amazing.
My biggest shoutout this year goes to all of YOU. Every couple chose to have a day that means something to them instead of bending to tradition. I’m beyond thankful and grateful for each and every one of you.
I photographed over 40 couples this year all over the states of Nevada, Oregon, Washington, California, and even a few in the midwest. I connected with so many people who realized the hoopla of getting married isn’t the true meaning of a wedding and decided to do what made them happy. It is an incredible honor to be that person that so many people trust to capture their day honestly and authentically and I’m feeling sappy just thinking about it.
I can’t wait to meet all of you who are on the books for next year because it’s going to be the best year yet.
