1. Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is one of those places you just have to see. The iconic Haystack Rock towers over the shore. The sand here is perfect for a beachside ceremony, and Ecola State Park is just a short distance away if you want to explore and add variety to your photos. If you’re considering eloping here, remember to check the tides so you don’t get surprised by the water. The best times are usually early morning or late evening when it’s quieter and the lighting is gorgeous. 2. Hug Point
Hug Point has unique rock formations and a secluded beach. You can say your vows next to a waterfall or in one of the cool caves! Just a heads up, though—make sure to check the tides and accessibility before you go, as it can get a bit tricky. The best time to visit is during low tide when you can safely explore all the nooks and crannies. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but it’s totally worth it for a magical elopement spot! Depending on traffic the drive should take around 1 hour and 40 minutes from Portland. You’ll use highways US-26 and US-101. Enjoy the scenic route, it’s gorgeous!
3. Wahclella Falls
Wahclella Falls is an absolutely stunning and powerful waterfall with lush, green surroundings. It’s one of those places that feels like a secret oasis. If you’re thinking about eloping here, the base of the falls is the perfect spot with the waterfall right behind you. There are also some beautiful spots along the trail if you want something more private. Just remember to get the necessary permits, and plan your visit during the spring or early summer when the falls are at their best. 4. Latourell Falls
Latourell Falls is also gorgeous, and the surrounding greenery makes it feel like you’re in a fairytale. For your ceremony, you can choose the lower falls for an up-close view or the upper falls viewpoint for a panoramic scene. Take a look at Alison and Chase’s Latourell Falls elopement in the Columbia River Gorge. To get to Latourell Falls from Portland, head east on I-84 E. After about 25 miles, take Exit 28 toward Bridal Veil. Turn right onto the Historic Columbia River Highway and follow the signs for Bridal Veil and the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway. Continue on this road for about 2.5 miles until you reach the Latourell Falls parking area on your left. The drive should take around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
5. Government Cove
Government Cove is such a cool spot for an elopement because of its panoramic views of the Columbia River. It’s a beautiful peninsula with stunning waterfront areas and rocky outcrops perfect for ceremony locations. Be sure to get any necessary permits, and try to plan for early morning or late afternoon when the light is best and there are fewer people around. 6. Elope Near Portland at Oregon Wineries
The wineries near Portland are perfect for a romantic elopement surrounded by scenic vineyards and rolling hills. The Willamette Valley is especially gorgeous, with tons of amazing wineries to choose from. A few favorites are Domaine Serene, Stoller Family Estate, Ponzi, Durant, and Sokol Blosser—they all offer beautiful backdrops. Amy and Frank had a winery elopement experience that was super sweet. These locations are generally easy to access, but it’s always a good idea to confirm details with the winery beforehand. The best seasons to elope are late spring through early fall when the vineyards are lush and the weather is perfect.
7. Indian Beach
Indian Beach is tucked away near Cannon Beach and has a dramatic coastal scenery. You can choose a spot on the beach or switch things up and venture into the nearby Ecola State Park for some epic cliff-top views. Indian Beach will give you that dreamy, intimate vibe you’re looking for. 8. Lighthouses | Cape Meares & Yaquina Head
Cape Meares and Yaquina Head are both amazing choices if you’re thinking of eloping at a lighthouse. They’re not only beautiful but also offer a glimpse into Oregon’s maritime history. Most of these lighthouses require permits for ceremonies, but it’s usually a pretty straightforward process. Accessibility can vary, so you’ll want to research and plan accordingly. 9. Rowena Crest
Rowena Crest is a must-see spot with breathtaking viewpoints and stunning wildflower meadows. You can choose to have your ceremony right at the viewpoint or venture onto one of the nearby trails. Weather can be a bit unpredictable, so it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan just in case. Rowena Crest is the perfect blend of natural beauty and serenity. To get to Rowena Crest from Portland, take I-84 east for about 68 miles, then Exit 69 toward Mosier. Turn left onto WA-30, continue onto WA-35, and turn right onto Rowena Crest Viewpoint Road. Drive about 2 miles to reach your destination.
10. Mt. Hood | Tamanawas Falls, Trillium Lake, & Lolo Pass
Mt. Hood is a fun elopement destination because of the variety of scenic locations. Not only will you find spots like Tamanawas Falls, Trillium Lake, and Lolo Pass, but there are also trails, parks, and other falls and mountain overlook. Mt. Hood truly has something for everyone!
